Calling all camping enthusiasts! Reservations are currently open for the 2026 season at the Montreat Family Campground. Located just around the corner from the Graybeard Trailhead, this beloved campground offers a welcoming and peaceful setting for visitors of all ages. We offer 29 sites which are available from May through October and are best suited for tents or small pop-up campers. Consider this an invitation to start planning your next outdoor getaway, and see for yourself how the Montreat Family Campground provides a unique blend of natural beauty, peaceful community, and outdoor recreation that keeps guests returning year after year.
If you have never visited before, the natural setting of the campground alone makes it worth the trip. Nestled deep within the forest, each campsite is surrounded by mountain laurel and rhododendrons and accompanied by the gentle, steady sounds of Flat Creek. While visiting, campers are invited to slow down and reconnect with the natural world, the campground serving as a quiet refuge from the outside world. Many guests also find this environment well suited for personal prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
While the campground offers plenty of opportunities for solitude, it is also a place where community naturally takes root. Families return for annual traditions, friends gather to share meals and laughter, and neighbors become friends around the glow of the campfire. Whether it is your first visit or your fiftieth, there is space for you here. Our campground volunteers and staff are committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere and helping guests feel connected to both the campground and the wider Montreat community.
Staying at the Montreat Family Campground also places you close to a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Guests can enjoy fishing for trout in Lake Susan, exploring Montreat’s many miles of hiking trails, or simply taking in the surrounding mountain scenery. For families with children, a playground is available onsite, and during the summer months additional recreational activities, such as swimming or boating, are offered for a small fee.
Of course, some of the most memorable moments are often the simplest. Many campers delight in wandering along Flat Creek, hopping from rock to rock, or spending unhurried afternoons listening to the water flow by. Whether you are seeking adventure, rest, or meaningful time with loved ones, the Montreat Family Campground offers a setting where all of those experiences can unfold.
